Jonathan Allen, White House reporter for Bloomberg News, and Amie Parnes, senior White House correspondent for The Hill, to chronicle the next chapter in Hillary Rodham Clinton’s political career in the follow-up to their instant New York Times bestseller, HRC: State Secrets and the Rebirth of Hillary Clinton

(April 15, 2014 – New York, NY): In HRC: State Secrets and the Rebirth of Hillary Clinton, veteran Washington journalists Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes offered a definitive look at one of the greatest political comebacks in history—the rebirth of Hillary Clinton. Beginning with her 2008 loss for the Democratic presidential nomination, they took readers on an insider’s tour of her tenure as secretary of state to show a seasoned operator in action: a woman whose ability to govern and play the Washington power game has put her at the cusp of becoming the first female president. As the 2016 presidential election nears, Allen and Parnes will follow Mrs. Clinton as she determines her next move, in a new book for Crown Publishers.

Senior editor Kevin Doughten acquired world, ebook, audio, first, and second serial rights from Bridget Wagner Matzie of the Zachary Shuster Harmsworth Literary and Entertainment Agency, and will edit the book. A title and publication date have not been announced.

In this new work, Allen and Parnes will take readers inside the inner-most circles of “Hillaryland” as the clock ticks toward 2016 and Mrs. Clinton’s last chance at the presidency. Combining their collective years of reporting, Allen and Parnes examine the major factors that will come into play in a Clinton presidential run—most notably, the attack in Benghazi, turmoil within the Clinton camps, and the role of Bill Clinton —and the strategies she will employ to try to capture the White House. Allen and Parnes will also offer unique insight into what the hallmarks of a Hillary Clinton presidency would be, and how she might govern as the first female President of the United States.

With unprecedented levels of access—to Clinton friends, foes, and staff, and factions on both sides of the aisle—Allen and Parnes will pull back the curtain on the decisions being made in regard not only to Mrs. Clinton’s future, but to that of our country, in what is sure to be a dramatic race for the most powerful seat in the world.

Jonathan Allen covers the White House and politics for Bloomberg News. A recipient of the Dirksen and Hume Awards, he has written extensively about Congress and national politics, and he appears frequently as a political analyst on television news programs. He lives on Capitol Hill with his wife, Stephanie, and their children, Asher and Emma.

Amie Parnes is the senior White House correspondent for The Hill newspaper in Washington, where she covers the Obama administration. A ten-year veteran of political journalism, she traveled with the Clinton, Obama, and McCain campaigns while covering the 2008 presidential race for Politico.
