E-Cookbook Release to Date

(December 8, 2010, New York, NY)—Clarkson Potter/Publishers and Ten Speed Press, imprints of the Crown Publishing Group, which together represent the largest cookbook program in the United States, today announced the release of 88 full-color illustrated cookbooks in digital format by bestselling and well-known food personalities. The release includes recently published and classic backlist titles from authors including Mark Bittman, David Chang, Giada De Laurentiis, Bobby Flay, David Lebovitz, Rajat Parr, Rachael Ray, Peter Reinhart, Martha Stewart, Ethan Stowell, and Alice Waters.

In keeping with the high production values for which both imprints are known, each e-cookbook has been individually optimized for full-color e-readers, such as the iPad or Nook. Images will also appear on black-and-white reading devices, including the Kindle. Each cookbook features built-in links that augment the reader’s experience; for example, indexes and menus link to recipes. Readers can use the search function to look for ingredients or specific dishes.

“While e-books and e-readers have exploded in popularity, the selection of illustrated cookbooks available until now has remained quite small. It’s exciting to offer content of this caliber to home cooks who prefer the digital experience,” said Lauren Shakely, Senior Vice President, Publisher, Clarkson Potter.

“With e-readers positioned to be one of the most popular gifts of the season, we are thrilled to have such a dynamic, award-winning range of books and authors available in electronic form,” said Aaron Wehner, Vice President, Publisher, Ten Speed Press.

The digital editions of these bestselling cookbooks will now be available in the United States and Canada wherever Random House e-books are sold.
