Ten Speed Press Launches New Imprint Lorena Jones Books

January 26, 2017—Aaron Wehner, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Ten Speed Press, Clarkson Potter, and Harmony Books, today announced the creation of Lorena Jones Books, a new cooking and lifestyle imprint to be overseen by Vice President and Publisher Lorena Jones, and simultaneously unveiled the imprint’s logo (see above). It will be housed within Ten Speed Press, an imprint of The Crown Publishing Group, a division of Penguin Random House, LLC.

Industry veteran Lorena Jones is widely respected as one of the most accomplished lifestyle editors in trade book publishing. Her eponymous imprint will release six to eight illustrated and nonillustrated books annually in the areas of cooking, work life, and health. The cookbooks will target committed, sophisticated, and style-conscious cooks. The titles on work life will resonate with resourceful, independent-minded professionals, and the health publishing will be developed for consumers who embrace self-care ideas that are based on leading researchers’ new findings and recommendations.

The first offerings from Lorena Jones Books will be published beginning this April, and in the coming months. They include a wide-ranging roster of authors and topics: Tartine All Day by Elisabeth Prueitt; Peppers of the Americas by Maricel Presilla; Cheers to the Publican, Repast and Present by Paul Kahan; The Million-Dollar, One-Person Business by Elaine Pofeldt; and How Healing Works by Dr. Wayne Jonas.

Future Lorena Jones Books include a major investigation into the diet industry by journalist Barry Estabrook and the much-anticipated first cookbook from Gabriela Cámara, chef and restaurateur of Mexico City’s beloved Contramar and San Francisco’s Cala.

Having previously spent fourteen years at Ten Speed Press beginning in 1995 in various capacities, including Editorial Director and Publisher, Jones moved to Chronicle Books as a Publishing Director in 2009. She co-led the development of the company’s digital publishing while also directing the cookbook and lifestyle list, acquiring notable titles such as Yotam Ottolenghi’s Plenty and Zoe Nathan’s Huckleberry. Throughout her career, Jones has also developed productive relationships with numerous authors, including James Peterson, David Lebovitz, and Chad Robertson. Jones returned to Ten Speed Press in late 2015 to develop her imprint, which is now ready to launch.
